NFIP or private: what does Wright Flood sell?
Every NFIP company has to use the NFIP's own rates and give the same coverage. So the same building gets the same NFIP price from any of them.[5]
An NFIP policy usually starts 30 days after you buy it. If you buy it as part of getting, refinancing, extending or renewing a mortgage, it starts at closing with no wait.[7]
Wait for a new private policy at Wright Flood: 30 days for Wright Excess unless required for a loan closing; 7 days for FocusFlood and the other Wright-placed private programs, waived for loan closings; 15 days for ResiFlood.
Lenders must accept a private flood policy that meets the federal definition of private flood insurance. Ask your lender to confirm before you close.[8]
